Buffalo, NY, April 6, 2022 – Interview with AirSep – answers featured in gasworld’s Air Gases issue, article, “Onsite Gas Generation”

Q: What onsite gas generation systems does the company offer? (Gases/technologies)

AirSep Corporation’s products include standard self-contained oxygen generators delivering up to 15 liters per minute (LPM), stand-alone PSA Oxygen Generators with capacities ranging from 45 to 5,500 SCFH and custom-built Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption (VPSA) systems that can produce up to 120 tons of oxygen per day.

Q: What PSA-based systems does the company offer?

AirSep has a diverse oxygen supply solution portfolio of Self-Contained Oxygen Generators, Mini-Pack Oxygen Generators (perfect for ozone generation), our AS Series Standard Oxygen Generators, Packaged Oxygen Systems and Oxygen Generating Plants.

Q: What would you say the pros are of onsite gas generation? Are there any cons? Repair/maintenance?

AirSep offers innovative, economical, non-cryogenic oxygen supply solutions as an alternative to cylinder or liquid supplies. Producing a reliable unlimited supply of oxygen on-location and on demand, an AirSep Oxygen Systemeliminates the need for oxygen deliveries and dramatically improves safety in locations where concentrated oxygen is needed.

These systems are simple and safe to use, and are easy to install and maintain thanks to a small footprint. Low in cost, fully automated AirSep Oxygen Systems do not require operation personnel and can very quickly pay for themselves due to the low maintenance cost and high energy efficiency. Remote monitoring is offered as an option.

Q: During the pandemic, medical oxygen shortages across the world have been exposed. How can onsite gas generation help increase preparedness for future pandemics and/or shortages?

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) definitely identified the weaknesses in gas supply and ability to mobilize oxygen delivery at a rapid pace all over the globe. I foresee working with a variety of institutions to establish a badly needed infrastructure and resources in preparation to meet future health crises, so they never face an oxygen shortage again. Additionally, I think the interest in sustainable, environmentally safe ways to disinfect and clean with ozone seems a natural course in preserving societal health.

Q: Which industries does AirSep provide systems for? Which industry or application is the most demanding? Any trends in oxygen and/or nitrogen?

AirSep can provide oxygen for practically any application. We see high demand across different sectors. Our oxygen products provide concentrated oxygen for medical applications, maximize the performance of ozone generation and can be used in a wide range of air and water treatment applications.

AirSep Oxygen Systems operate automatically to supply patient, surgical, and critical care units in medical facilities, military field hospitals, on-site emergency preparedness centers, and disaster response and recovery efforts. There are more than 5,000 medical installations in nearly 50 countries, worldwide that depend on AirSep oxygen generation systems.

By pumping oxygen into the water supply for aquaculture applications, it can increase rearing density by up to 300 percent, reducing the time to harvest by 20 percent. This also reduces stress on the fish improving their resistance to disease.

AirSep oxygen products are perfectly designed for wastewater treatment applications, particularly high purity oxygen (HPO) activated sludge and biological nutrient removal (BNR) processes. AirSep VPSA Plants can serve any size needed to add oxygen to an area to enhance growth of microbes, which help remove pollution and odors from soil or groundwater. AirSep builds reliable oxygen plants capable of delivering on-site oxygen necessary for the UNOX and OASIS wastewater treatment process.

High levels of dissolved oxygen are important to the gold leaching process. Since mining sites are generally in remote areas, an AirSep oxygen system is the perfect cost-effective solution as it creates its own oxygen on-demand and dramatically reduces cyanide consumption, which is good for the environment.

Q: Any increase in requests by the medical oxygen sector?

AirSep and its parent company, CAIRE Inc., both continue to receive extraordinary numbers of inquiries for oxygen equipment, including oxygen concentrators for individual patient use and larger oxygen systems for the medical gas pipeline in hospitals. Our PSA equipment provides dependable continuous performance, eliminating delays in oxygen deliveries and ensuring an uninterrupted supply to meet critical needs.

Q; Any additional comments?

AirSep will continue to focus our efforts to produce PSA and VPSA Oxygen Systems of the highest quality with an expected equipment life of more than 20 years. The past two years have been very challenging due to the worldwide COVID crisis creating extreme supply chain problems, but the team at AirSep rose to the challenge and saved countless lives by suppling over 1,200 hospital oxygen systems to over 20 countries around the world.  Along with its parent company CAIRE, the critical needs of patients in more than 100 countries were served during this time.
